Privacy & Data

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Does This App Work? collects, why it is needed, and what stays yours.

Effective July 24, 2026

What you submit

If you submit a compatibility report, we store the app name, device model, beta version, whether the app works, optional comments, submission timestamps, and a browser-generated identifier. The identifier lets different people submit the same report while preventing the same browser from submitting an identical report twice.

If you use the Works or Broken quick-vote buttons, we also store your vote for that app and a browser-generated identifier so the same browser can keep one current vote per app.

App Store lookup data

To show cleaner app names and icons, we may match submitted app names against Apple’s public App Store search data and store the matched app name, App Store ID, icon URL, and store URL.

We may also use the coarse country code supplied with a request by our infrastructure provider to search the corresponding App Store storefront. We do not ask for or use precise location for this feature.

Cloudflare Turnstile and abuse prevention

To limit spam and abuse, we use Cloudflare protections, including rate limiting and Turnstile verification. Turnstile may run invisibly or in the background depending on our configuration and Cloudflare’s risk assessment. Cloudflare may process technical signals such as IP address, user agent, origin, and related browser or network data to provide bot detection and security services. Learn more in Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use cookies or local storage for advertising. The site uses first-party browser storage to remember your light or dark mode preference, save your Works or Broken quick-vote selection, remember the device and beta version you last selected in the report form, and keep a browser-generated identifier for vote persistence and abuse prevention.

Saved form preferences remain on your browser until you change them, use the site's “Forget saved selections” control, clear your browser's site data, or use private browsing. Device and beta information is sent to us only when you submit a compatibility report.

Authorized administrators receive an essential, secure session cookie after signing in to the private administration area. Ordinary visitors are not assigned an account or advertising cookie.

Analytics and performance

We use aggregate traffic, security, reliability, and performance measurements provided by Cloudflare to understand and operate the service. Cloudflare may process ordinary request and network metadata to provide these measurements. We do not use advertising analytics or analytics designed to track visitors across unrelated websites.

Live updates

To keep the board current across devices, the app may periodically check for new reports and votes while the page is active. These checks use ordinary request metadata in the same way as other site requests.

Third-party support link

We include a link to Buy Me a Coffee so visitors can voluntarily support the site. If you click that link, Buy Me a Coffee will receive the normal request metadata that comes with visiting their site.

Infrastructure logs

Cloudflare provides our production hosting, DNS, security, and related infrastructure services and may process ordinary request metadata such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, and response status for delivery, security, debugging, and reliability. During migration or rollback, Vercel may temporarily provide hosting for the same purposes.

Public content and moderation

Submitted reports are intended to be public. We may reject, hide, delete, or merge reports that appear duplicative, abusive, spammy, unlawful, or otherwise harmful to the community.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for accounts, names, email addresses, payment information, or precise location. We do not sell personal information.
